Founded in Kansas City by Chaz DeRocher, our locally owned business grew from humble beginnings and a bold dream. Chaz started mowing lawns at just 14 years old, and he never stopped. Raised in a small Iowa town with fewer than 2,000 people, he had every odd stacked against him but he also had grit, discipline, and a dream that refused to quit.

His father, a full-time mechanic, and his mother, a bakery manager, both juggled multiple jobs just to keep the family afloat. Watching them work 2–3 jobs taught Chaz something that’s stuck with him ever since: nothing in life comes easy but if you want it bad enough and work for it, anything is possible.

From a young age, Chaz poured his energy into dirt bike racing and wrestling, sports that demanded discipline, focus, and resilience. He raced competitively, even landing in a few local newspaper as a child. But while his name was printed in ink, it was the behind-the-scenes work ethic that truly defined him.

With few role models, it was his grandmother who gave him the words that lit the fire:
“Love what you do and you’ll never work a day in your life.”
Her passing in 2023 only made that message more meaningful and more motivating.

By 18, Chaz wasn’t just mowing lawns, he was building a future. Even a life-changing accident couldn’t stop him, it simply sharpened his focus. In March 2025, after years of hands-on experience and unwavering determination, he launched DeRocher’s Lawn Salon as the sole owner. With support from his fiancée Katie, who now leads Client Services, his vision became a business rooted in values, quality, and pride.

Chaz treats every property like it’s his own. As a business owner, stepdad, and someone committed to breaking generational curses and building generational wealth, he understands what it means to create something that lasts.
